I'm a lucky girl...

Tonight, Matt and I took the boys to Chick-fil-a for a little family time. On the way there, we asked the boys if they wanted to go somewhere with a playground and neither wasted any time yelling yes.
When we got there, I groaned when I saw that the playground consisted of a tube slide whose only access was through a small maze that began with a tight spiral staircase up a treehouse. This meant one thing: it was too difficult to get Max at the top of the slide, or anywhere in the playground for that matter.
We all ate our dinner first, then Carter ran off to play. I breathed a sigh of relief when Max was too engrossed in pretending his chicken was an animal climbing the mountains of fries in front of him. Matt and I sat and talked while Matt tried to figure out how to put together the complicated kids toy, and Max was perfectly happy playing in his own little world. He was content. Phew! We had dodged a bullet.

But Matt saw it differently.

Just when I thought it was time to pack up and head out, Matt jumped up, grabbed Max and said, "You want to go down the slide Max?" Of course, Max got so excited and off they went to join Carter in the play room. Through the glass, I watched as this 6 foot man maneuvered this tiny boy up the long treehouse and through a curvy tunnel to get to the slide. He scooted, pushed, lifted, dragged and tucked Max every way possible as he himself ducked, squeezed, twisted, dodged and slid through this child sized maze. It took them a good 10 mintues to get to the 2 second slide (which Matt also had to squeeze himself down).
Max laughed the whole way and when they reached the bottom of the slide and Max asked with a huge smile on his face to do it again, Matt didn't hesitate and repeated the process 2 more times.
I just sat and watched as the three boys laughed and played, and was quickly reminded that THAT, among many other things, is why I love my husband.
