The past few weeks Max has wanted to do everything Carter does. It really is so cute, and at the same time, a tiny bit heart breaking. He imitates Carter, repeats what he says, and asks for whatever he asks for. The latest thing is that he wants to "stand like Carter" in front of the TV. (Carter has a horrible habit of standing 1 foot in front of the TV).
Max has from day one laid flat on his back when he sleeps. The other night I put him down and he turned to his side and said he wanted to "lay like Carter".
The clencher though, was the other day when I was getting him out of the car and he asked to "walk like Carter". I told him he could, and he asked to just hold my hand. So I assumed the normal position when I help him walk, and grabbed both hands while he moved his feet. But he had another idea. "Let go mom!" He let go of one of my hands and tried to walk while just holding one of my hands (like Carter). Of course, he's not stable enough to do that on his own yet. So after an awkward lean to one side, he agreed to hold both hands, but walk right next to Carter.
I've said this before, but I'm so grateful for Carter and his willingness to help Max. He's the best brother. I know Carter will always have an extra reponsibility to help with Max and be an example to him. I just hope he never feels like it's a burden, but rather a privilege. I have no doubt that Carter was sent to us for a reason. Max absolutely loves him and wants to be "just like Carter".

Maryann, I love those two boys so much!! Everytime we are with you guys I am overwhelmed at the purity and innocence they posess, and I am inspired by the kind of parents you and Matt are. Thank you for being our friends, I think we are better for it! :)
I'm going to ditto what Tonii said...we too love them so much! I am so glad that Max has such an awesome brother...but Carter is just as lucky! Max is one special, adorable little boy! Love him!
Maryann you have to warn me ahead of time when a blog post is going to get me this choked up.
I get such an impression from all your darling pictures and stories that Heavenly Father knew exactly what He was doing when these two little guys were chosen to be brothers, so close in age, and with such amazing parents.
I love, love, love reading your blog and am always inspired by your darling little family.
Man... I always get her too late. Ditto, ditto, ditto. Nate always says we will be lucky if we have kids as cute as yours. He is so right! Max and Carter are the perfect duo. They are both going to grow up to be quite the catch!
that was the sweetest thing i have read in a long time!
i just think you are amazing...and so are your children.
That is so sweet! Those boys are so cute and are going to be the best of friends. You are one of the most amazing persons I know. Those boys are so lucky to have you as their mother.
What happen with lunch??? :) Lets plan that one again
This made me cry. You have two very sweet boys.
Maryann, I'm so excited that you found me. I've only had a blog for a few months, but I love it. And love being able to reconnect with people. Your little family is too cute. I'm so excited to be able to keep in touch. Love ya.
Love Elyse
OK...BAWLING! Those two boys melt my heart and bring instant smiles to my face. I am grateful for Carter and the example he is to Max. I am grateful for Max and the incredible spirit that he radiates. And I am grateful for you and the example you are for me. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
So sweet. What great little boys you have, and you're doing a great job with them both. It's so neat to see the bond they already have.
So great to see you yesterday. I would say I'd come visit you again soon at work, but only if you people turn that dental office into a spa.
The compassion Carter has for Max is overwhelming. At Shriner's Carter spends much of the time watching and encouraging Max in therapy as we do. No question - Carter has been a Godsent for Max, and for all of us. They ARE my heart!!
Does anyone have a tissue? I will be thinking of those boys all week long. Let's get together again, it has been WAY too long.
I love those boys!
This is soooo sweet!
(sniff, sniff) I love those little boys and their incredible mommy!
